Beginnings are hard.
That blinking cursor on a blank page can feel like a dare, a challenge to put your thoughts out into the world.
And so here I am, completing my course “Pen To Profit”, ready to delve into the journey of copywriting.
Yet all I can think of is, where the hell do I start?
Here.
Why This, Why Now?
What brought me here, and what finally inspired me to start?
The Truth?
Being sick and tired of seeing other people online living life on their terms,
all the while, being stuck working a job I hate, struggling financially.
Chris Williamson, Iman Ghadzi, Alex Hormozi.
They may be online influencers to some;
to me, they were men who decided they didn’t want to follow the mediocre path.
Finally, after years of digesting their content, I’ve decided, why not me?
What am I Building here?
This Weekly Newsletter will be my brain dump.
Each week, I’ll dive into my reflections, share copywriting insights,
Toss in a helpful tip here and there
I’m in pursuit of Mastery. These reflections might motivate you to do the same.
Who The Hell Are You?
Well, first,
Hi, James here.
English-born, Australian-raised.
Grew up in Brisbane, moved to the Sunshine Coast. Returning to Brisbane in my 20s.
1 of 5 Siblings. I went through school as a shy, bullied, overweight kid.
But over the years, I’ve rewritten my story.
Now, training in MMA for over five years and diving in as deeply as I can into the whole self-improvement landscape.
Consuming content in whichever medium I could get my hands on. YouTube, Instagram, Books, Podcasts didn’t matter.
I’ve undergone a complete transformation of self, reshaping not just who I am but how I see the world.
Now, I’m choosing to let this inner evolution guide the transformation of my professional path.
My First Reflection.
This week, I’ve Debated and Listened to a lot about beliefs, be they political, personal, or scientific.
Challenging myself and others: Are your beliefs truly yours?
Or… have you subscribed to a narrative driven by headlines and short-form content that resonates with you?
Why do we hold onto our beliefs so strongly? Its a question worth asking.
Many people, myself included, could greatly benefit from taking time to reflect and rigorously examine our beliefs.
By strengthening our understanding, we become better equipped to articulate and defend our viewpoints when challenged.
Copy Insight
Here's what I know so far.
Discover the philosophical problem when you write to your target customers.
Get to the deeper reason why you think what you are selling could help them.
Oh, and also, if you do not believe you can help them, don’t sell them.
Once you discover the philosophical problem, create a desire and outcome you can uniquely provide. Think carrot and stick. Simple but effective.
Try it out.

P.S. I’m a sucker for a quote, so I’ll throw my quote of the week down here.
“A Wise Man Proportions his belief to the evidence” - David Humer.
Scottish Philosopher.
Big Love,
James.
